T2: Judgement Day and the Sober Irish

Hey Roomie! Welcome to the latest dispatch from your friendly neighbourhood retro arcade down at Cityside (Yorkgate if you're a local). It's been a great month for arcade pickups and also for arcade visitors which is great, we'd planned for a bit of a bleak mid-winter!

First off we picked up a Terminator 2: Judgment Day machine and we're pretty damn stoked about it. In around 5 years of doing this we've never seen one come up for sale never mind seeing one in Northern Ireland and we were pleased as punch to add it to the collection. It's been out of action for a while but we'll be rolling our sleeves up on Saturday and diving into getting it going once more. Hugely exciting!

Our Mortal Kombat is winging its way from England also and our Tekken 3 will be in the arcade from this weekend! And we also picked up a USA only release from Arcade 1Up a fantastic little tabletop arcade featuring the bat and ball classic Pong as well as Tempest and Breakout among others.

We weren't aware that Arcade 1up made games other than the standup arcade games but in the past couple of months we picked up a Couchcade with Missile Command, Asteroids, Millipede and others as well as this superbly put together little Pong tabletop. It's out to play in our outside area as we speak and we're figuring how to incorporate the Couchcade into our setup also. Never been huge fans of the Arcade 1UP arcade cabinets but these are superb little gaming devices we must say. It's all about keeping these old games alive for a new generation after all!

Lastly if you're walking steadily down the long and winding road of Dry January join us on Saturday the 31st for our Complete Dry January event at the arcade in collaboration with the Sober Irish. There will be beer samples and you'll be able to exclusively purchase their fantastic range of zero alcohol beers on the night. A sea salt IPA? You know it sounds good (and it really is!).
